The S Word was screened at The Brookings Institution in Washington DC to a packed house on Monday, February 5th. It was an amazing night for all of us and we thank everyone at Brookings for making this such a wonderful event. Brookings also displayed the photography exhibit by Dese ‘Rae Stage (Live Through This) who is featured in The S Word.
Following the film, Brookings hosted a panel discussion about the making of the movie, well-being and desperation in America, and finding viable solutions to reducing suicide rates.
The panel was led by NPR correspondent Jon Hamilton (moderator) and featured Carol Graham Sr. Fellow at the Brookings Institution and Lisa Klein. Leah Harris, mental health advocate and featured in The S Word, introduced the film.
I just saw the trailer for this and want to know when/where/how to see the film. I missed the Brookings screening, unfortunately. I am a survivor, as is my son. My brother was less fortunate. Thanks for making this documentary.
Thanks for your interest in THE S WORD. Sorry that you couldn’t join us at the Brookings screening. There are no other screenings planned for the DC area at this time, but please visit our Events page for information on upcoming screenings. Check back often as the page is constantly being updated with new dates and locations.
We are so very sorry for the loss of your brother. And we are glad that you and your son stayed.
