Sonoma County Supervisor Shirlee Zane hosted a free community screening of The S Word followed by a panel discussion on July 11th.  We want to thank everyone involved for putting this wonderful event together and give a special shout out to the women of the California HOPE organization.

Lisa first met Supervisor Zane when she did an interview for The S Word. Having lost her husband Peter to suicide in 2011, the Supervisor has been a strong advocate for suicide prevention.  She expressed her thoughts in an interview with The Press Democrat:  “We cannot prevent suicide if we don’t talk about it,” Zane said. “This is a preventable death in most cases. We have to end the silence.”

We are grateful for Supervisor Zane’s commitment and thank her and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors for supporting the community with this screening.

We have several videos featuring Shirlee Zane on our S Word Stories page. The links are below.
