Lisa and Kelechi recently visited Port Townsend High School in Port Townsend, WA to show THE S WORD and visit with students. After a screening attended by more than 200 kids, students were split into small discussion groups, each led by a teacher or counselor. Lisa and Kelechi circulated throughout, participating in frank, heartfelt conversations. One girl stood up and said she felt comfortable enough to reveal, for the first time, that she had attempted. She was soon surrounded by others in her group offering support. Another, moved by Kelechi’s story in the film, tearfully thanked her for being brave enough to share intimate details of her life in order to help others. All in all, the day provided a way for students to open up, share their thoughts and vulnerabilities and realize they are not alone.

On Saturday, April 7 there will be a free community screening of THE S WORD at the Rose Theater in Port Townsend.
